Liturgical Readers proclaim the Word of God at mass. A reader will read aloud the First Reading, the Responsorial Psalm, followed by the Second Reading and the Gospel Acclamation before the priest proclaims the Gospel.
The proclamation of the Word of God is an important part of the Eucharist. The Church teaches that when the Word is proclaimed, God is speaking to His people. It is important, therefore, that liturgical Readers are trained and prepare for reading each week.
